PALS - The Woods in Your Backyard PALS-2 2nd Ed

Written for owners of one to 10 acres in the eastern U.S., this guide promotes land stewardship for the owner’s enjoyment and for improved environmental quality. It will be useful for managing forested land, unmowed natural areas and mowed areas the owner would like to stop mowing.

The book follows the Nelson family as they complete 17 activities that help them get to know their property, learn about forestry and ecology, identify management options that meet their goals, and choose land improvement projects. Appendices include in depth information on tree species, wildlife habitat requirements, and site requirements. The book includes over 100 color photos, an overview of native plants and invasive plants, a glossary, and an index. Blank worksheets for the 17 activities are available online for the land owners use. The workbook also includes completed activity sheets for two additional case studies.
